Stuttering Solutions of NH
Speech therapy for stuttering is different today than it was years ago. If you or your child stutters, you want to find someone who understands the everyday battle that stuttering can be, someone who specializes in treatment for the whole person, not just the stutter.
Work with me to build a deep understanding of your stutter, whether mild or severe, obvious or hidden, and explore ways it can change. I offer solution-focused, compassionate therapy to help you or your child speak authentically and effectively, become more confident, and achieve life goals. No gimmicks, no drills.
In addition to evaluation and therapy, I offer a monthly adult social/support group through the National Stuttering Association, and direct a summer camp for kids and teens who stutter.
So much is available for you. Remember, if you stutter, you are not alone.
Deborah L. Bennett, M.S. CCC-SLP (she/her)
Qualifications
With 25 years as a speech language pathologist, I'm a Spero Ally of Stuttering®, and certified in ARTS® (Avoidance Reduction Training for Stuttering), and Palin PCI (Parent Child Interaction therapy). I hold the ASHA CCC-SLP and am licensed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In addition, I'm the clinical director for Camp Words Unspoken, New England's first overnight camp for youth who stutter.
Convenient meetings
Meet me in-person at my Raymond, New Hampshire office, in-home within Southeast New Hampshire, or virtually. Flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends. Or, join my monthly NSA Chapter meetings for adults who stutter.
Affordable
Your first consultation is free. Individual therapy sessions are $100 per hour; I accept most insurances, and offer a sliding scale if you are paying out of pocket. Group sessions may be available for teen and adult stuttering.
Evaluation and Therapy Services
An intake interview and brief evaluation is part of the therapy process for any new client. Further evaluation may be helpful depending on your needs and goals. Therapy is all about finding what works for you or your child, and building on success. Along with stuttering, I can help with other speech and language issues.
Stuttering
We will work together to identify your broader communication goals and how stuttering or speech issues may be getting in the way. We will explore in detail what is happening with your speech, and what is most helpful for you to learn. You will choose whether and when to work on physical, cognitive, or emotional aspects of stuttering.
Evaluation
A comprehensive evaluation can identify other speech fluency issues, such as cluttering and atypical disfluency, as well as articulation and language difficulties that may be affecting communication.
And More
I work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety, social anxiety, or depression related to their communication challenges. I can also help teens and adults with articulation, language, or learning difficulties, and I work with kids and adults who communicate using AAC devices or systems.
